A DAY IN THE LIFE

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Abi's favorite spots in the city.

I have lived in Cape Town for 10 years now and have really made it my home. There are so many gems to the city, and as a visitor you can sometimes miss them and stick to the tourist track; so I decided to share with you some of my favorite spots so you can get an insight into Cape Town from a local's point of view.

All these spots are close to our studio in the Bo Kaap, so let us know if you visit and pop into the SOUL studio (also in the heart of Bo Kaap).

Maison J Coffee

I often start that morning at Maison J in Camps Bay for a coffee and delicious home baked croissant which I then take to the beach.

Bakhoven Beach

Next, hop in your car and drive to Bakhoven beach, a real local favorite. It is small, cute bay for the perfect morning dip with stunning views of the mountains. Top tip, enjoy your coffee with friends on one of the big rocks afterwards.

Harvest Breakie

A fave local Bo Kaap eatery for breakfast with a view of Table Mountain and a birds' eye view of all the colourful houses of Bo Kaap. The food is healthy and delicious and my favorite is the Dukkah eggs with local spices.

Atlas Spices

This is where we get our spices for our cape Malay jewellery workshops, including the cinnamon bark and star anise for our Bo Kaap inspired G+Ts. This shop has been an institution for decades in the area and a real treat for foodies visiting the city.

Chandler House

An absolute favorite of mine for affordable local art, with monthly exhibitions and a homely space that is always colourful and inspiring when you pop in. Our studio (my home) has a number of their pieces hanging on my walls.

Purr Shop

Dropping Soul stock at Purr on trendy Kloof street always gives me an excuse to try on some of their beautiful clothes with patterns and colours that pop our jewellery perfectly. It is great for shopping for local brands.

Shala Yoga

A firm favorite yoga studio and in my opinion the best in Cape Town! Brilliant teachers and located off a cute square. Top Tip: Try the Yin Yoga on Sunday evenings, the perfect end to the weekend and they donate proceeds from the class to a local charity. Book dinner at Maria's Greek restaurant afterwards.
