I like to start the morning at Dalebrook Café with a good coffee and something buttery. Their vegan croissant is unforgettable. I usually grab everything to go and wander down Main Road toward the ocean while the day is still quiet.

Next stop is always the Dalebrook tidal pool. A quick dip, a few morning chit-chats with familiar faces, some sunshine on the skin and an icy plunge. It really does set the tone for the day.

To warm up afterwards, I pop in for a 15-minute mobile sauna at Hot Huts. It’s such a treat after the swim. Just remember to check their schedule as they’re only there a few mornings a week.

Once the wellness portion of the morning is done, it’s time for a little wander and browse. I love visiting Purely Porcelain just down the road - beautiful clay pieces that are all designed and made right there on site.

Then I like to drift over to Quagga Rare Books. It’s full of incredible reads, special gifts and those coffee-table books you didn’t know you needed until you see them.

By this point I’m usually ready for something sweet, so I head up to Honest Chocolate in the loft section of the Kalkery building. A little chocolate snack always helps, and in winter their hot chocolate is unbeatable. There’s also a beautiful sunny outdoor area that’s perfect for a catch-up.

On the way back along the road I like to stop at the roadside flower market to pick up a little colour for the studio.

There are always a few more shops I love popping into along the way: Jane Valken for beautiful light dresses in joyful colours, or Greydawn for natural linens and soft muted tones.

When it’s time for lunch, I settle in at Sirocco for something delicious and maybe a cocktail. The staff are wonderful, the setting is sunny and the atmosphere is always relaxed.

Before heading off, I make one last stop at Soul and Soul Souk - our pink store at 100 Main Road (you really can’t miss it). Inside you’ll find handmade jewellery, keepsakes and homeware. Upstairs is the Souk space, filled with beautiful carpets and a creative workshop area that makers tend to fall in love with.

And if I’m lucky enough to stay the night, I finish the day at Chartfield Guest House. It’s just a two-minute walk from the road, with beautiful harbour views and the loveliest pool to unwind beside.

If you’re wandering through Kalk Bay anytime soon, I hope you discover a few little favourites of your own.
