Africa's most Romantic Destinations

We have journeyed to three of our favourite African romantic destinations and created a little travel journal of things to do and places to stay.

CAPE TOWN

Our favourite city has a number of romantic gems and things to do, here are our top things to do and places to stay.

Where to stay: The Dorp Hotel

Pure eye candy for a bohemian soul and the best views of Cape Town city and Table Mountain.  Make sure you make time for a meal on their upstairs outdoor deck.

Something romantic to do: Bakhoven Beach

Pack a picnic and your swimming stuff and head to the rocks at Bakoven Beach to enjoy a glass of bubbles with waves crashing around you.

Something soulful to do: Jewellery Workshop

A workshop for two at our studio making lover bracelets with a Gin & Tonic and beautiful views of Kalk Bay and beyond…

LAMU ISLAND, KENYA

This magical island continues to inspire our collections and overall SOUL style; it’s also unmistakably romantic and you are bound to fall in love with it, there’s just something about it leaves a mark on your soul..

Where to stay: Peponi Hotel

Bare-foot luxury with a touch of understated glamour; Peponi’s is also the go-to for the best seafood and make sure to order a one of their legendary Gin Dawa drinks at sundowners to sip on whilst looking out to sea.

Something romantic to do: Dhow Cruise

A sunset Dhow boat cruise amongst the mango grooves; Dhow boats are carved from local wood on the island and have simple canvas sails painted with love notes and messages.

Something soulful to do: Visit Old Town

Take a step back in time and explore Lamu old town; the oldest and best preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa.  Wander the streets of old trade shops and mosques where only donkeys and people can go and sit and enjoy a Swahili tea whilst watching the active harbour of Dhow boats and water taxis.

ZAMBIA

South Luangwa is one of those places that stirs your soul; known as an area for their walking safaris;  you will feel, smell and hear Africa in a way you may never have before...

Where to stay: Mwamba Camp at Shenton Safaris

This is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience sleeping in a small bushcamp in a remote area of Zambia.

Something romantic to do: Sleep under the stars

Sleep out under the stars in their star bed with only a mosquito net between you and the African sky.

Something soulful to do: Tribal Textiles

Get creative and visit Tribal Textiles in Mfuwe (where Abi used to work) and see their amazing hand painted textiles workshop and paint a piece yourself.
